Featuring Nancy West’s sumi-e paintings illustrates the diversity in her work. Nancy is a plein air and studio artist who works in oil, watercolor, ink and pastel. She uses mixed media and has recently ventured into using gouache. Her subject matter seldom varies from the world around her, be it at home or while traveling. Almost every subject has been on her easel – landscapes, wildlife, still life, children, figures and sumi-e.
C. Keith Whitelock’s Chesapeake Bay marine paintings are easily recognized by his attention to detail in his Images of working boats, derelict boats and the surrounding shorelines and marshes. Working in watercolors, oils, and occasionally acrylics, he tries to present a realistic image of a rapidly disappearing lifestyle. To get the right feeling and accuracy, Keith builds small models and crews on the retired skipjack, Ida May, which will be racing, in the Deal Island Labor Day Skipjack race.
Other artists with work being shown are Lois Engberg, Kenneth Browne, Amanda Lind, Lynne Lockhart, Kirk McBride, Jim Rehak, Fred Sprock and Christie Taylor. This is a mix of recent plein air and studio paintings.

Lynne Lockhart and Kirk McBride will be in the gallery for “conversation” about the newest work they are showing. This is an opportunity to see the largest exhibit of their work before heading out to other galleries.
April is traditionally the month to show New Work by Lynne Lockhart and Kirk McBride. It is the largest show of their work completed in the past year. The show will open on April 1 but Lynne and Kirk will be off painting in Texas. The following Friday, April 8 we will host “Conversation with Lynne and Kirk” from 6 until 8.
