Opening Reception & Wine Tasting for New Work by Gallery Artists
Winter Abstracts Featured in February
In February Bishop’s Stock gets back to new shows and special events. As in the past 6 years we will be showing Winter Abstracts to give everyone bright colors and energy to combat “cabin fever.” We are very excited to be showing new gallery artists – Abigail Grier Custis, Tom Hogan and Phyllis Gillie Jaffe – along with familiar names – Ed Challenger, John Cleary, Kathy Daywalt, Ann Hayden, Angela Herbert-Hodges, Anne Holland, John and Eric Nyberg, Hunter Nesbitt, Deborah Rolig and Maurice Sevigny.
December Artists-in-Residence – Lynne Lockhart & Kirk McBride
Studio Sweep Sale
Each December Bishop’s Stock’s artists sweep through their studios for paintings that “need to go.” Some are older or the last of a series. Most paintings are unframed with very attractive prices. The sale runs thorugh January so there is plenty of time to browse for gifts or your collection. The sale opens with a reception and wine tasting on First Friday, December 5.
Ann Hayden Featured in September
“Hey, You Looking at Me?”
Ann Hayden has titled her second show with us in tribute to the curiosity she observes in the birds she watches near her home on the Eastern Shore of Virgina. While her first show “Flyby” caught birds in flight, this show captures their inquisitive nature. Once again she focuses on the sculptural quality of birds but this time her subjects seem to be posing for the observer. It is clear Ann finds the shapes fun to paint offering great poses and humor with titles contributed by her friend Phyllis Ward.
August Artist-in-Residence – Maurice Sevigny
Images of Summer Light by Jan Crooker Featured in July
Jan Crooker’s
“Images of Summer Light”
Featured in July
Each summer Bishop’s Stock features artists who do not regularly show throughout the year. Many of these talented artists have connected with us through Paint Snow Hill, our abstract show or just during their stays on the Eastern Shore. In July we are featuring paintings by Jan Crooker. Those who have seen her paintings during Paint Snow Hill will recognize her love of light and color. She is calling her show “Images of Summer Light” with all of the paintings reflecting light we experience during long, lazy summer days.
