Stop by and visit with our OCtober featured artist, Hunter Nesbitt. He will be here to talk about this minimalist drawings and paintings from 11 to 6.
Come meet Hunter Nesbitt and see his “Abstractions from Nature,” minimalist drawing and paintings in pastel and oil. We will be tasting Oregon’s Wildewood Wine Compay wines. Acoustic music by Po Tolo.
When we opened the gallery in November 2003 we met new artists when they stopped by to see our space and our gallery approach. Hunter Nesbitt was an early visitor for whom we planned a show in June 2004. At that time Nesbitt was focused on abstracted representations of marsh grasses in winter and wave patterns in water and clouds all done in pastel on heavy archival paper. After reconnecting with Nesbitt this year we decided to show his latest work – Abstractions from Nature – that includes pastels but also oils on canvas. Nesbitt’s work continues to be subtle, minimal and serene.
Come see Ann’s second show at Bishop’s Stock. The title is “Hey, Are You Looking at Me?” Once again Ann is captivated by “life” around her home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
Ann Hayden has titled her second show with us in tribute to the curiosity she observes in the birds she watches near her home on the Eastern Shore of Virgina. While her first show “Flyby” caught birds in flight, this show captures their inquisitive nature. Once again she focuses on the sculptural quality of birds but this time her subjects seem to be posing for the observer. It is clear Ann finds the shapes fun to paint offering great poses and humor with titles contributed by her friend Phyllis Ward.
Come meet Maurice Sevigny and see his paintings and his lovely jewelry. This talented artist is all about color combining acrylics for his paintings and unusual materials in his necklaces.
During August Bishop’s Stock will feature Maurice Sevigny. Maurice is one of a very few of our artists who paint as well as create 3-dimensional work. The show will feature colorful paintings and creative jewelry. His current body of work has been inspired by international travel and has grown out of digital experimentation using the computer software as a color enhancement and design distortion tool. Maurice is recognized for his very colorful adaptations of figurative, floral, abstract and landscape images which are his unique combinations of mixed media. His “One of a Kind” jewelry designs incorporate his keen sense of color and texture and represent unique combinations of beading that use multicultural beading sources. Check his website to learn more about his career in fine arts education.
Come visit with Jan Crooker and learn more about what has inspired her artistic expression. She will offer insight into her creative process used in her show “images of Summer Light.”
Come meet July’s featured artist, Jan Crooker. Her “Images of Summer Light” are crisp, bright and full of color.
Each summer Bishop’s Stock features artists who do not regularly show throughout the year. Many of these talented artists have connected with us through Paint Snow Hill, our abstract show or just during their stays on the Eastern Shore. In July we are featuring paintings by Jan Crooker. Those who have seen her paintings during Paint Snow Hill will recognize her love of light and color. She is calling her show “Images of Summer Light” with all of the paintings reflecting light we experience during long, lazy summer days.
