To bring summer colors to Bishop’s Stock we are featuring paintings and jewelry by Maurice Sevigny in July. Maurice is retired from his distinguished career in fine arts education (The University of Arizona, University of Texas at Austin, Bowling Green University and Western Kentucky University) but retirement has given him more time to maintain his active visual arts and jewelry studios in both Tucson, Arizona (November to June) and at his summer/fall residence in Salisbury. Travel inspires his work. He is known for his very colorful mixed media adaptations of figurative and landscape images. His art inspires his “one-of-a-kind” jewelry designs that mix beading materials from multiple cultures. At the opening on July 6, Maurice will have a lovely selection of his unique designs as he will on Saturday, July 21 as our Artist-in-Residence. Our First Friday reception is from 5 until 8 with tastings of wine from South Africa. Check Maurice’s website to find out more about his work in fine arts.

Maurice Sevigny – Painter & Jewelry Designer
During August Bishop’s Stock will feature Maurice Sevigny. Maurice is one of a very few of our artists who paint as well as create 3-dimensional work. The show will feature colorful paintings and creative jewelry. His current body of work has been inspired by international travel and has grown out of digital experimentation using the computer software as a color enhancement and design distortion tool. Maurice is recognized for his very colorful adaptations of figurative, floral, abstract and landscape images which are his unique combinations of mixed media. His “One of a Kind” jewelry designs incorporate his keen sense of color and texture and represent unique combinations of beading that use multicultural beading sources. Check his website to learn more about his career in fine arts education.

Studio Sweep Sale
5th Annual Studio Sweep Sale
Each December Bishop’s Stock’s artists clean out their studios to offer art lovers a chance to add to their collections or find the perfect gift at great savings. For the artists this gives a chance to sell older work, the last of a series or paintings that just need to go! For those who appreciate local talent this means a great selection of oils, acrylics, watercolors and pastels. Most work is unframed but there is a small selection of paintings ready to hang plus frames to purchase. This year ceramics and jewelry are included. The sale continues through December and January so there is plenty of time to leisurely search for that perfect find. During this time newer work by gallery artists is also displayed but not at reduced prices.
