Studio Sweep Sale Continues

7th Annual Studio Sweep Sale Continues

During January our customers can still find great artwork at wonderful prices. Bishop’s Stock’s artists have cleaned out their studios to offer art lovers a chance to add to their collections at great savings. For the artists this gives a chance to sell older work, the last of a series or paintings that just need to go! For those who appreciate local talent this means a great selection of oils, acrylics, watercolors and pastels – large and small. Most work is unframed but there is a small selection of paintings ready to hang plus a few frames to purchase.  The sale continues through the month so there is plenty of time to leisurely search for that perfect find. During this time newer work by gallery artists is also displayed but not at reduced prices.

Each year the gallery schedule includes featured shows of new work by artists who have been with us since we opened in 2003. In September we will have new work by Jim Rehak. He is one of our artists whose work is constantly improving because his enthusiasm  for plein air painting has him finding interesting landscapes and seascapes as he travels around the area. Each new season and changing light are always his focus which he interprets with a bold, colorful  palette.

Featured in July – Reflections on Water by Nancy Richards West

July 16-1 36x48

There is no better month than July to show the work of Nancy Richards West whose local seascapes and imagery say “Eastern Shore summer.” Nancy, a long time resident of Chincoteague, grew up in Western Pennsylvania in a creative family with art always a part of her life. Her passion for drawing and painting is reflected in her figurative work, wildlife art and plein air landscapes. In this show, Reflections on Water, Nancy has one of the largest paintings she has completed in her studio. Big Wave (36’x48′) is an amazing example of how Nancy “reads” the motion and energy of the breaking surf. Also included in the show are Sumi-e paintings which are done in the traditional Chinese brush stroke technique. Check Nancy West for Nancy’s background and artist statement.

Some works suggest imagery while others are totally non-objective. So far artists included in the show are Petra Bernstein, John Cleary, Abbi Custis, Kathy Daywalt, Scot Dolby, Angela Herbert-Hodges, Anne Holland, Nancy Mysak, and Aina Nergarrd-Nammack.
