When November arrives, days fly by with seasonal activities and special family times filling our schedules. The colors of fall seem to set the stage for Thanksgiving and make this truly the prettiest time of year. This gives us time to pause and enjoy what the Eastern Shore has to offer before the Christmas holidays take hold.
Our featured artist for November is a familiar name at Bishop’s Stock. Scot Dolby has been showing with us for most of our 21 years. Once he retired from teaching and dedicated himself to more studio time (when not fishing), Scot had his first featured show in 2008. After that he was our November artist in most even numbered years until Covid interrupted everyone’s schedule. We always have his work moving around the gallery but this time he is showing over 20 new paintings. He has titled the show Stay in the Struggle: 70 years of marking marks. My comment to him is “he still stays in the lines”! The show features what he does best – bringing the local landscape into view. Yes, there are fish, two beautiful dyptichs, one classic f-150 and a new selection of everyones’ favorites, his cigar box top mixed media paintings.
